The challenge
The datacentre projects involved providing pre-construction information and CDM advisory services across two major sites in London. The objective was to assist Boldyn Networks in fulfilling their Principal Contractor and Principal Designer obligations under the CDM regulations and ensure the project met all necessary health and safety standards.
The challenges were ensuring compliance with CDM regulations, aligning health and safety standards with Boldyn Networks’ policies and procedures, ensuring effective communication and coordination between senior management, project teams and external suppliers, and managing project risks with timely resolution of non-conformances.
Our approach
Pre-construction information pack
Aligned timelines and targets with the project teams, defined a pre-construction information checklist to set minimum standards, reviewed existing building and services documentation, and issued the final packs to the agreed targets.
CDM advisory services
Helped senior management set HSE project goals, briefed teams on their CDM Client responsibilities, evaluated two suppliers, reviewed designs and CDM documentation, and carried out on-site pre-construction visits and construction audits.
Management of project risks
Remote reviews of critical documentation, including Construction Phase Plans, RAMS, and rescue and lifting plans, with on-site inspections of the Principal Contractor’s CDM compliance.
Principal Designer governance
Issued detailed Principal Designer standards and processes, and reviewed pre-construction information.
Ongoing support
Weekly H&S assurance meetings with senior management, ongoing communication with the principal contractor and construction team, and coordination of the HSE F10 notification.
